I am pretty sure the MIL-STD-810G tests were done with the bumpers installed. As to specific data regarding endurance reduction without the bumpers, I'll have to check with our engineers and get back to you.

The bumpers weigh a few ounces and don't make a noticeable difference to the feel of the system when in use.

Sahara Slate PC i400 Series : Windows 7 Plans for the i400

    Author: TK_Dan
Subject: Windows 7 Plans for the i400
Posted: 07/09/10 at 4:34pm

Actually, installation of Windows 7 on a Sahara Slate PC i400 series Tablet PC is even easier now. Just go to either the Downloads page in the support section of our website, or to the i400 product page and tap on the "Downloads" tab. There you will find all of the Windows 7 drivers for your Sahara Slate PC. Download them to a USB thumb drive and have it handy. Reboot your Sahara Slate PC from the Windows 7 DVD (as explained in the previous post's instructions) and proceed with the installation.

After the initial Windows 7 install is complete and you are at the Windows 7 desktop, simply install the necessary missing drivers from the USB thumb drive. You don't need to install them all if Windows 7 found some of them online during the installation. You definitely will want to install the TouchSet drivers, Function button drivers and appropriate fingerprint reader drivers (check the Windows XP device manager to determine which drivers - Authentec or UPEK - you'll need before you begin installing) at the very least.

After all the drivers have installed, reboot your system to make sure they all load properly and you should be good to go with Windows 7 running on your Sahara Slate PC i400 series Tablet PC.

Good luck and let me know how it goes!
Soon after my original post I installed a new hard drive and the problem disappeared for a whole year (to the extent that I'd forgotten that I had posted about this before!). Anyhow, the BSODs are back and this time they're serious - I cannot boot into XP (except occasionally and then it doesn't last long) and get scrambled BIOS text. I'm pretty certain it's not the hard drive as I've tried the old one(s) and have been able to copy my data using it as an external drive on my son's machine. I can't even use the Restore CD provided. Help.
